Congress of Black Women of Canada
Le Congres des Femmes Noires du Canada

Ontario Region

Waterloo Chapter

The Chapter was formed in August, 1988 at the home of Veronica Norris-Lue, Waterloo, Ontario

The Regional Representative at that time, Sybil Garrick and Sheila Mascoll of the North York Chapter facilitated and supported the opening of the Chapter.  It was a very splendid and joyous occasion, where an executive was selected right away.  Twelve women formed the first Chapter and worked together amicably for several years.

With seed money from the Ontario Region and funding from the Status of Women Canada and the Women’s Directorate, the Chapter organized many successful educational conferences in the 1990’s, addressing issues concerning Women and Economic Development, Women’s Health, Youth and Education, and several mini workshops involving Youth.
